The Fourth District Court of Appeal has ordered that all references to Republic Properties Corp. be deleted from a 2007 grand jury report regarding an investigation of allegedly corrupt city practices. The appellate court found that Republic was not a target of the investigation and was never provided with an opportunity to challange unfavorable mentions in the report prior to it being made public. Michael Tein commented that this ruling is significant because it ensures protection from potential abuse of the grand jury process.
